I have been using GoDaddy for my personal portfolio site and its been a stable but costly provider for sure. The initial price was great but when renewal time came around I was shocked at the jump, especially with the high domain registration fees added in. I had an account restriction once when I tried to update my email and it was a pain to get sorted, but the support team was helpful after waiting a bit. The hosting performance is fair, my site rarely goes down and the uptime is acceptable for what I need. I think the VPS option is good if you have a bit more cash, I tried it for a friend's site and it worked fine. The tax charges are annoying but I guess thats just how it is. Overall, I am happy enough, its a solid choice for beginners.
