Nebraska Furniture Mart (NFM), founded in 1937 by Rose Blumkin (“Mrs. B”) in Omaha, Nebraska, USA, is the largest home furnishings retailer in North America. Acquired in 1983 by Berkshire Hathaway, NFM now operates five mega-stores: Omaha (first store & outlet), Des Moines (Clive, Iowa), Kansas City (KS), The Colony (Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas), and an upcoming Texas location in Cedar Park (opening ~2026). With over 1 million sq ft of retail space per mega-store, NFM sells furniture, flooring, appliances, electronics, and décor. The company remains family-led with Ron and Irv Blumkin now providing guidance under CEO Tony Boldt. NFM is known for its founding motto – “Sell cheap and tell the truth.”
