Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy Ltd., founded in 2007 as the Japanese-owned component of the GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy joint venture, is headquartered at 1-1, 3-chome, Saiwai-cho, Hitachi-shi, Ibaraki-ken 317-0073, Japan. It combines GE Vernova’s reactor technology with Hitachi’s advanced engineering and nuclear construction capabilities. The JV leads development of the BWRX-300 SMR, the HI-ABWR, RBWR fast reactor, and collaborates on the U.S.-based PRISM sodium-cooled fast reactor. As of June 2025, its BWRX-300 design is under development in multiple countries including Canada, Sweden, Poland, and the U.S.
